Today’s Question for Q&A Monday is a good one, and one that we get asked quite frequently!

Q: “Am I too old for Braces?

“Getting the healthy & happy smile you deserve can be achieved at any age here at Progress Ridge Orthodontics

— Dr. Susan Park, DDS

Dr. Park : “Absolutely NOT! You’re never too old to get orthodontic treatment. (Unless you have already lost all of your teeth, in which case you have missed your window.  But good news! You can always get dentures made as straight as you like!) The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends getting your teeth checked by an Orthodontist as early as age 7, but I have treated a sprightly 82 year old, as well as all ages in between. There are a lot of advantages to getting braces when you’re a teenager, such as all your friends have them and quicker bounce back from tooth soreness as they get straightened.  However, not everyone has the option to get braces during their teenage years and we are happy to report that an AAO survey study found that adults are currently seeking orthodontic treatment at historic levels-so you are not alone! Getting the healthy & happy smile you deserve can be achieved at any age here at Progress Ridge Orthodontics!”
